A MESSAGE FROM Emma
This November, I will be running my first ever marathon, the New York City Marathon, in support of the organization, First Candle! I am so fortunate to be running with this team and would immensely appreciate your support.
First Candle is an organization committed to ending Sudden Unexpected Infant Death through education about safe sleep and providing support for grieving families who have suffered a loss of their own. Every year over 3,600 babies die from Sudden Unexpected Infant Death.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, I have fallen in love with the sport of running and I couldn't be more excited to participate in an activity I love, all while benefitting this amazing cause. My step-mom, Alison Jacobson, who is the current CEO of First Candle, tragically lost her first child, and my step-brother Connor, to SIDS. Despite the loss of her first-born, Alison has showed immense strength and has devoted all of her time and effort into educating families on ways to prevent Sudden Unexpected Infant Death. Not only this, but she has continuously provided support to families who have unfortunately experienced a similar situation to her own. While this is certainly not an easy task, Alison does it all with grace and I feel honored to be supporting her and the work that this organization does for children and family across the nation.
I have committed to fundraising $2,500 for First Candle and with your donation, we can continue to educate families to follow safe sleep guidelines in order to dramatically reduce the statistics of sudden infant deaths.
