A MESSAGE FROM Riley's Runnin' 26.2
I'm so excited and grateful to run the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon with the JCK Foundation. The idea that a support system and community is a key to approaching and supporting mental health is incredibly important, and as a high school English teacher and girls basketball coach at Tappan Zee High School, I see this in action every day. As an educator and a coach, I strive to help my students and players feel challenged yet supported, realize that they are loved and accepted beyond their accomplishments on the court or in the classroom, and understand that I will always be there for them, despite pushing them to keep getting better.
Running the NYC Marathon and working towards a personal best puts this into action - I hope to push myself to do hard things, challenge myself, all while leaning on support from my family, my friends, and my community. There is no way I could tackle this without my husband, Ryan, my sons - Theo and Oliver, my parents, my friends, or my coworkers. I am who am because of my community.
The marathon might be an individual event, but the everything that goes into it - from Day 1 to Day 100 - is a team effort, and I'm so happy to a part of the JCK team! I'll be forever grateful to John for giving me this chance to run and to draw attention to an amazing foundation.
Please take some time to look at John's story, the history of JCK, and all of the incredible programming and resources they provide to schools and adolescents in the area. By donating to support me, you are supporting them.
