Dear Friends,
Alzheimer’s
disease and dementia diseases currently affect more than 55 million people
worldwide, and unfortunately, this number continues to rise.
As you may know, this terrible disease has profoundly impacted me and
my family. In 2019, I lost my grandmother Rosie to dementia. My Grandma Rosie was an incredible woman, a
beacon of life, love, and wisdom. She had a way of lighting up every room she
entered with her infectious humor and gentle spirit. Growing up, she was my
confidant, my most enthusiastic supporter, and my biggest inspiration. But as
dementia slowly took hold, I watched the vibrant woman I adored fade
away.
So
instead of feeling hopeless, I’ve decided to take action. That’s why this year,
I’ve committed to running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon to support
Alzheimer’s drug development, in memory of Grandma Rosie. My personal goal is to raise at least
$3,000 to support the important work of the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), the only charity solely
focused on finding drugs to treat Alzheimer's.
The mission of
ADDF is to rapidly accelerate the
development of drugs to prevent, treat, and cure Alzheimer's disease. Founded in 1998 by co-chairmen Leonard A. and Ronald S.
Lauder, ADDF has been at the forefront of Alzheimer's research
for more than 25 years.
I hope you will
consider supporting my efforts by donating today. 100% of your donation goes
directly to science and groundbreaking research. To date, ADDF has
awarded more than $290 million to fund over 750 Alzheimer's drug
discovery programs, biomarker programs and clinical trials in 20 countries.
You can visit my online fundraising page at TCS New York City Marathon (hakuapp.com) to learn more and make a donation. If you prefer, you can also mail a donation directly to ADDF at 57 West 57th Street, Suite 904, New York, NY 10019. Checks should be made payable to Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation with my name in the memo line. All donations to ADDF are 100% tax-deductible.
Thank you
in advance for your time and generosity. Together, we will conquer Alzheimer’s
disease!
Sincerely,
Joshua Oldrid
