After 12 years since the Boston Marathon (yes, the tragic 2013 one, and yes, I made it through the Finish Line just minutes before the explosion), I'm jumping back in—this time to raise funds and run NYC for Bras for Girls! This will be my third NYC Marathon, my fourth marathon total, but my first with this awesome charity.
Did you know that nationally, only 20% of girls engage in at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity, a lower rate than boys? Girls’ participation drops off significantly from ages 10-17. Identified barriers include lack of financial means, lack of role models, and concerns about body changes, including breast development and the need for a SPORTS BRA. 46% of girls reported their breasts affected their sports and exercise participation, and more than 50% of girls did not wear a sports bra with exercise.
Let’s educate, let’s get them bras…let’s do this for BRAS FOR GIRLS!
