A MESSAGE FROM Erica DePalma
Hi! My name is Erica DePalma and I am running the 2025 NYC Marathon to raise funds for the Urban Justice Center (UJC).
I first learned about the Urban Justice Center while in college volunteering for an organization called Picture the Homeless in the Bronx. On my first day at the office, I saw a sign that read, 'There are enough vacant spaces in New York City to house every homeless person.' In that moment, I realized the problem wasn’t about what we could do — it was about whether we choose to.
From there, I learned about other organizations in the city committed to advancing justice and choosing to do the work - including UJC.
UJC is composed of many longstanding Anchor Projects, that serve tens of thousands of people a year, on critical issues ranging from homelessness, to discrimination, to seeking asylum, to escaping intimate partner violence. Each Project is led by experts in the field, who devise their own strategy for making change, often combining free direct legal services to those in need with community organizing, legislative advocacy, “know your rights” trainings, and more.
Thank you for supporting my efforts on #TeamUJC. For UJC to achieve its mission, they depend on the generous support of individuals like you. I am grateful for your generosity and hope you take great pride in the important difference that your gift makes. The Urban Justice Center is a registered nonprofit making your gift 100% tax-deductible, our EIN is 13-3442022.
Thank you for investing in vulnerable New Yorkers by supporting my run with the Urban Justice Center.
