A MESSAGE FROM Emma
I'm taking on the NYC marathon this year to raise money for the Hepatitis B Foundation. Their mission is deeply personal to me, because I have been living with chronic hepatitis B since I was a baby, and I know firsthand that we have a lot of work to do to address the stigma around this disease, and get more people tested, diagnosed, and connected to care.
I feel grateful that I have access to amazing medical care to help me manage this disease, and hopefully prevent serious health complications down the road. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. Most of the nearly 300 million people estimated to be living with chronic hepatitis B remain undiagnosed, and nearly 1 million die every year from complications of the disease. Thankfully, early intervention and treatment make such a huge difference. I want to give hope to other patients and show people that you can live a healthy, active life with hepatitis B.
Your support is greatly appreciated, so that we can work together to improve the quality of life for people living with hep B. I am hopeful that we will come out with better treatments and a eventually a cure in the not too distant future ❤️
