I started running (for the first time) in 2014, training for a half marathon. This got derailed when I was hit by a car - while walking across the street - in August 2015. Fast forward to 2019, and I ran my first half marathon. Three months later, I ran my first full marathon in January 2020. I ran four more marathons before getting the itch to try ultramarathons. A couple 50ks later and having ran my first 100 mile race this past October, I wasn't planning on racing this year. That was, until I saw Point of Pride was looking for one more runner for their NYC Marathon team.
Point of Pride provides life-saving gender-affirming care to transgender and gender-diverse people who may not otherwise have access to it. Every donation helps remove barriers to healthcare and supports trans people in living safely and authentically.
This is a dream race for me, and now doubly so. In a time where trans people are being attacked left and right, it's never been more important to support our trans siblings. Trans people deserve to feel safe, to feel good in their bodies, to feel loved, and to be able to go after their dreams. Running for Point of Pride is a dream I didn't know I had til recently, but I feel so happy to get the opportunity to do so.
Thank you for supporting Team Point of Pride.
