A MESSAGE FROM Ellie's Run for Recovery
On March 17, 2025 I got a second chance at life by committing to sobriety. Over a year l later I can firmly say that my life has changed for the better! Last year I was given the opportunity to run the NYC Marathon for Release Recovery Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships to those needing financial assistance to receive treatment for addiction, mental health, and substance abuse. I'm THRILLED to be running my third marathon with Release as I return to run the New York City Marathon this November!
In many ways, the Release Recovery Foundation is responsible for my own recovery journey. In 2024, I ran the London Marathon and was introduced to so many incredible people (many younger than me) who had committed to their own sobriety. While I had begun to contemplate sobriety at this point in time I was running and fundraising to honor my grandmother (who celebrates 48 years sober in May 2026). In 2025, I hit my emotional rock bottom with alcohol while in NYC for a half marathon. To help me commit to my own sobriety I wanted to reclaim NYC and raise money so others could get the help they need.
2026 is no different. I firmly believe that everyone deserves the chance to live their life to the fullest through sobriety.
While my $15,000 fundraising goal is ambitious, it is the exact amount needed to cover TWO treatment scholarships with Release. That's two lives changed for the better.
