I’m running to support The Fund for Public Health in NYC (FPHNYC), the nonprofit partner of the NYC Health Department.
As a Health Department employee, I saw first-hand the immeasurable value that this institution provides to New Yorkers and the nation. The NYC Health Department has two centuries of history protecting and promoting the health of the masses and most marginalized.
By supporting my run, you’re helping expand access to primary care, health screenings, chronic disease prevention, affordable and nutritious food, mental health services, maternal health support and many other essential programs that serve 8.5 million New Yorkers.
What makes me the most proud of working at the health department is their institutional commitment to health equity and racial justice. It operates with a recognition of historic and contemporary injustice in government and health care, and seeks to address the consequential health inequities. This means honoring the full humanity of every person and their right to meet their full potential.
At a time when the federal government is dismantling our nation’s health infrastructure and attacking civil rights, investment in institutions like these is more essential than ever.
Thank you for supporting me on this journey — every contribution counts, and no donation is too small.
