Run for Hope: A Tribute to My Father and a Mission for Change
This November 1st, I'll have the honor to run the New York City Marathon—not just as a test of endurance, but as a tribute to my father, Scott Varner, who passed away by suicide on October 29th, 2025. He was an incredible dad, a cherished friend, and a beacon of laughter and warmth to everyone around him. His easy-going spirit and hardworking nature inspire me every day, and it's in his memory that I am asking for your support. I miss him every day, and I'll be excited to run my 1st marathon and celebrate his life. Some of my favorite memories with my dad come from growing up and going to Raben Retreat, laughing at his jokes, and spending summer days by the pool with him and my friends. Those moments mean everything to me.
I'm beyond thrilled to have been chosen by Minding Your Mind to participate in the New York City Marathon. Their mission to provide mental health education from kindergarten through college and to adults in communities resonates deeply with me due to the lasting influence this can have on lives. By addressing mental health proactively, they aim to dismantle the stigma and destructive behaviors that so often accompany these issues. Their approach encourages help-seeking behavior, moving from crisis response to education and prevention—an impact that can save lives.
Your generous donation will support Minding Your Mind's vital programs, helping spread awareness and education about mental health in our communities. Join me in honoring my father's legacy and shedding light on mental health issues that touch us all. Together, we can run towards a future where mental health is prioritized and understood, helping to create a world filled with hope, healing, and laughter. Thank you so much for your donation and support. It means the world to me.
