Running has transformed my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. It became my lifeline, helping me shed over 100 lbs and manage my mental health. It’s my way to meditate, grow, and continually surpass my limits, whether that's pushing for faster speed or longer distances. I haven't run 26.2 miles before, but crossing the NYC Marathon finish line would prove to me and others that my autism diagnosis isn't a barrier; it’s part of the strength that helps me overcome challenges.
Receiving an autism diagnosis at 23 was life-changing. It brought clarity, healing, and an understanding of why my experiences felt different from those around me. Discovering the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN), an organization run by autistic people for autistic people, felt like finding a community that speaks my language. ASAN’s mission deeply resonates with me: amplifying autistic voices, advocating for inclusive policies, and challenging outdated stereotypes about autism.
Running the NYC Marathon with the ASAN team allows me to represent my community, promote neurodiversity, and help create a society where autistic people shape the policies and services that impact their lives. Funds raised will directly support ASAN's efforts to create accessible resources, advocate for community-based support systems, and challenge harmful stereotypes about autism.
By running, I aim to inspire others to embrace their identities, showcasing the resilience, insight, and strength within the autistic community.
My goal is to raise $3,000 to support ASAN’s critical work. Donations of any size are appreciated.
Support ASAN in embracing a world that champions neurodiversity. Your donation amplifies autistic voices, fosters inclusion, and helps build a world that fully embraces neurodiversity.
