I’m excited to be running the 2026 NYC marathon in
partnership with Answer the Call! (https://www.answerthecall.org/)
Answer the Call provides financial assistance and a network of support to the
families of New York first responders who have been killed in the line of duty.
So why Answer the Call? Many of the families Answer the Call
supports are those of first responders that were killed on September 11th.
I was too young to remember or understand that horrible day,
but for as long as I can remember I’ve carried a conflicting mix of anger,
sadness, and gratitude about the events. On one hand, my dad was lucky enough
to make it out of the World Trade Center that morning, which I’m grateful for
every single day. He is the greatest dad and best friend my siblings and I
could ever ask for. On the other hand, it breaks my heart to know that so many
people senselessly lost loved ones at the hands of faceless cowards. I’ll never
comprehend that such evil exists in the world, but I try to find hope in the
stories of the acts of selflessness and bravery during one of the country’s
darkest days and the time that followed. Although the funds I raise will be
going to support the families of first responders, I will be running in honor
of everyone affected by September 11th: the victims, first
responders, and military members that made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars
that followed.
