Born and raised on Staten Island, Erik Strommen grew up playing basketball and running trails across the island's local parks. After graduating from St. Peter’s Boys High School and Manhattan College, he turned his interest in the environment into a career as a Water Resource Engineer, where he focuses on clean, resilient water infrastructure.
This November, Erik is running the NYC Marathon to raise funds for the Staten Island Park Alliance. His campaign supports local green spaces across the island, including the ongoing development of Freshkills Park. Turning the landfill into a thriving ecosystem is one of the most ambitious restoration projects in the country. As both an engineer and a lifelong Staten Islander, Erik is grateful for the chance to contribute to a project that’s reshaping the future of the borough.
Parks are the heart and soul of any community, and Erik is proud to run for a cause that will benefit Staten Island families for generations to come. Every dollar raised is deeply appreciated, no matter the amount.
